The way I do my portrait projects is simple: an idea, a person, a space that has some intimate relationship with the person and above all zero preparation. I like to jump into the void without even knowing the light conditions of the place. That's what I wanted to do, but now with the moving image.
An idea: to be inspired by the feeling the person has on the day of the shooting, a person: an actress ready to jump into the void like me, a space: an apartment belonging to her family.
Once I entered the apartment, I left out any expectations about the final result. We started talking and once the atmosphere was set, I started shooting. Madeleine was deeply into the game, we were guided by what came out as we explored different locations and emotions. The session took place in a playful atmosphere, I felt like we were playing like two kids on the playground.
My big surprise came a couple of months later, when I finally sat down and resumed shooting. When I started to put them together, one next to the other, I realized that the shape the story was taking no longer belonged to me, that is, the story took control and created itself, taking its own rhythm and its own color.
Then, the music appeared and without any effort, it fit almost perfectly over the line of images already created, as if it had been made based on this story, which I titled “Seduction”
La forma como hago mis proyectos de retratos es simple: Una idea, una persona, un espacio que tenga alguna relación intima con la persona y sobre todo cero preparación. Me gustalanzarme al vacío sin saber ni siquiera las condiciones de luz del lugar.Eso mismo quise hacer,pero ahora con la imagen en movimiento.
Una idea: inspirarse sobre el sentimiento que la persona tenga el día del rodaje, una persona: una actriz dispuesta a lanzarse al vacío al igual que yo, un espacio: un apartamento de su familia.
Una vez entré al apartamento, dejé afuera cualquier expectativa acerca del resultado final. Empezamos a hablar y una vez la atmósfera estaba lista, empecé a rodar. Madeleine entro en el juego profundamente, nos guiábamos por lo que iba saliendo a medida que explorábamos diferentes lugares y emociones. La sesión transcurrió en un ambiente lúdico, sentí que jugábamos como dos niños en el patio.
Mi gran sorpresa llegó un par de meses después, cuando por fin me senté y retomé las tomas. Cuando empecé a acoplarlas, una junto a otra, me di cuenta que la forma que fue tomando la historia ya no me pertenecía, es decir, la historia tomó el control y se fue creando sola, tomando su propio ritmo y su propio color.
Luego, la música apareció y sin ningún esfuerzo, encajo casi que perfectamente sobre la linea de imágenes ya creada, como si hubiera sido hecha basada en esta historia, la cual titulé “Seducción”.
