In August 2022, I embarked on a trip to Spain to celebrate the tenth anniversary of my 180 degrees decision to change my life and devote myself to my passion for photography.
I crossed the country from north to southeast. The first city I arrived was San Sebastian, and the itinerary continued to Bilbao, Villanañe (the village of my mother's last name), Cuéllar (the village of my mother's last name), Madrid, Valencia, Barcelona and back to France via Perpignan.
It was an initiatory and solitary trip that lasted eighteen days. With my camera as witness of the encounter with my ancestral roots. A journey to discover places I'd never visited before and to revisit others I already knew. A way of establishing visual contact with its inhabitants, a way of creating a visual dialogue between my inner self and everything I encountered along the way. An experience framed by the powerful solar energy of summer, so closely linked to Spanish and Latin American culture. A journey to reappropriate myself through those mirrors of the unconscious that are photographs. A visual reflection of the new being I have become after ten years of inner search.
